What's hot on the Coast this summer?

Across the 28th-30th July Whitby Pavilion plays host to Whitby Steampunk Weekend. Returning after last year's runaway success, the Yorkshire Coast's premier Steampunk event is packed to the gills with special guests, trade stands and superb entertainment.
The Most Fabulous Montague Jacques Fromage plays host for a weekend which will contain an appearance from Dr. Atticus Oldman of The Absinthe Affair who will be podcasting live across the weekend.
Tickets to 'Beyond the Sea' on Friday evening, 28th July, are priced at £18, and admission to the rest of the weekend is FREE!

Ahoy there Shipmates! Scarborough Seafest returns for a 19th installment in July, and there'll be more to see and do than ever before.
Sponsored by Keepmoat Homes, this year's FREE maritime festival is set to be the most feature-packed yet, with a seaside smorgasbord of family activities, street theatre & live music, and some very special guests all squeezed into one weekend.
Running over the weekend of 21st-23rd July, expect a winning mix of arts & crafts, delicious food & drink, live demo kitchens and cook-offs, and the famous Seafest fireworks display on Saturday evening.

The hugely popular music and arts extravaganza Staxtonbury returns over 7th-9th of July.
The family-friendly festival makes an 8th outing this summer featuring the cream of local musical talent, as well as acts from across the country - and even the United States! Friday's closing act is The Sub Gents, whilst Tom Davenport will rock the headline slot on Saturday on the acoustic stage.
Expect a huge selection of delicious hot food stalls, craft tents, cider and ale by the gallon, a spectacular fireworks show on Saturday and even a big wheel!

Music in the Open Air
|
Scarborough Open Air Theatre's summer season is well and truly in full swing; Grammy-award winning George Benson and Sir Tom Jones close out a run of five outdoor shows in five nights at the beginning of this month, before chart toppers Little Mix return to Europe's biggest open air theatre for a sold out show the following week. In addition, fan-favourite popster Olly Murs will be welcomed back with open arms when he makes his third Open Air outing on Sunday 9th July.
Looking further ahead to the end of the summer, chart toppers Madness bring their unmistakable brand of Ska to the North Bay in August, 80s v 90s take us back to the golden age of the hit single, before the season is brought to a triumphant close with the arrival of Brit-award winning singing sensation Jess Glynne.

Antiques hunting with Auntie Beeb - Castle Howard
 The BBC Antiques Roadshow stops off at Castle Howard on Thursday July 13th.
Bring along your family heirlooms, household hoards and car boot sale bargains and let the resident Roadshow experts run the rule over your artifacts - who knows, you could be sitting on a fortune!
Entry to the Castle grounds is FREE on the day and no ticket or pre-registration is required. An upgrade price is applicable if you wish to visit the house.

Tykes' title quest continues on the Coast
 Scarborough Cricket Club hosts another round of the Specsavers County Championship this July.
Yorkshire v Somerset will take place between Monday 3rd - Thursday 6th July, as third place Yorkshire aim to climb the table and assert their title credentials.
The first ball will be bowled at 11am at North Marine Road, with Yorkshire looking to close the gap on leaders Essex and local rivals Lancashire in second, as the race for the title of County Champions continues.

Festival of Filey - Return of the Dragon
 Variety is the name of the game at this year's Return of the Dragon, aka the Festival of Filey on July 29th-30th.
Building on the spectacular success of Rise of the Dragon, 2017's Festival of Filey is a ram-packed weekend of FREE, family fun.
Expect an eclectic mix of Marauding Vikings, a Motorcycle Display Team, Cossack Warrior Trick riding from the Stampede Stunt Company, and live music featuring tributes to ABBA and Rock of Ages!

Shake your tailfeather!
 The ORIGINAL Yorkshire Soul Weekender Experience is back once again at Whitby Pavilion for 2017!
Over three days between Friday July 7th and Sunday 9th, Whitby Northern Soul Weekender serves up two huge rooms of Motown classics, plus current variations on the classic soul blueprint.
Whitby Northern Soul Weekender is always packed out with the North's hottest DJs playing the best-loved tunes from the golden age of sweet soul music.

Rockin' on Redcliffe Farm
 Summer is traditionally festival season and it's no different on the Yorkshire Coast.
Hot on the heels of Staxtonbury, YC17 Yorkshire Coast Music Festival in Lebberston showcases the finest original acts in the area on July 28th and 29th. The line-up features amongst others Black Delta Movement, All Mod Cons, Page 45, Black Lime, Harley Likes Music, Vasolators and Jesse Hutchinson.
Weekend tickets for the festival at Welburn Farm, Lebberston are available to purchase for only £15 and include FREE camping and FREE parking!

Trade meets Tradition
 Ryedale Show is a unique family day of entertainment that dates back over 160 years.
Established in 1855, the traditional County Show is reputed for both its quality of livestock and its high number of Trade Stands. Held in Welburn Park's natural amphitheatre, Ryedale Show offers a full and varied day of entertainment as well as ample opportunities to indulge in a spot of retail therapy.
Join the crowd of over 15,000 people enjoying the Ryedale Show's unique atmosphere in Kirkbymoorside on Thursday 25th July.
